BATH ART AND DESIGN FUTURES PROJECT
FUTURE FORWARD PROJECT
“Bath Art and Design has a future that is open-ended, exploratory, and mutable, not as a definitive project, and may be characterised by a rapid and impressionistic representation of how you see the future from this moment forward”, Bath Spa University.
My work was successfully selected for the ‘Futures Project’, as part of the changes to Bath Spa University. The work was exhibited in Walcot Chapel, alongside other art students at Bath Spa University. The project aimed to discuss our cultural and artistic future. Alongside the future for Art and Design in general and at the University.
‘Re-establishing the importance of the arts sector within schools, will help navigate and re-configure our confused culture’. Hannah Ball
This exhibition was a successful way of getting my work out into the wider community of the university. My work raised many discussions about the future of our school. The work itself does not demonstrate technical nor traditional skills, which enables audiences to see the importance of the fine art course. This enabled audiences that do not have a background involving art to see the importance of contemporary art, gallery based and in the commercial art environment. If I were to do an exhibition similar to this again then I would show some of my bigger work. This would consequently demonstrate the endless determination and confidence that artists have considering the various funding issues. This exhibition was very different to other exhibitions as its aim was to raise the cultural concerns that at brings to our wider community, through a platform of work.
